Five little moots, waiting for a face

The moon is up outside Mouse’s cottage, and his turnips are waiting. Will yours look cheerful, surprised or just a little mischievous? Gather your favourite pencils, draw a face on each moot and bring Mouse’s cosy autumn window to life.

Inspired by the Manx tradition of carving turnips, called moots, rather than pumpkins, this Tales of The Glen activity sheet by Victoria Beata offers a gentle way to celebrate Hop-tu-Naa with a little imagination.

Make Mouse’s moots your own

• Five blank turnips for drawing your own lantern faces
• Mouse, his cottage window and a moonlit scene to colour
• A leafy woodland border with autumn details
• A colouring and drawing activity inspired by the Isle of Man

Print, draw and colour at home. This is a paper activity, not a turnip-carving kit. Paper, pencils and other colouring materials are not included.

May gentle things find you and stay awhile.
